SANTA FE, N.M. --- A beautiful Saturday morning in Santa Fe provided the perfect backdrop for the 2nd Annual NMHU "H" Club All Sports Golf Tournament at Marty Sanchez Links de Santa Fe.
Twenty-two teams (more than 88 golfers) competed at the event that gave out numerous prizes while the event raised money for Cowboy and Cowgirl athletics. The team of Larry Chavez, Gary Chavez, Larry Chavez, Jr., and George Chavez won the event followed by the team of Marcus Molina, Mike Molina, Rick Giron and Marty Valdez. Taking third was the team of Alex Dominguez, Albert Zamora, Phil Houser and Philip Aragon.
Winning the longest drive competition was Mike Molina and Marcus Molina while the closest to the pin honors went to Pepe Alvarado, Alexis Baca, Marcus Molina and Vinny Perea.
"Seeing former student-athletes reconnecting and getting to know our extended NMHU family is what makes this such a special occasion," NMHU H Club president Syl Perez said. "The H Club family and officers Gary Tripp, Pam Abreu, and Jim Abreu, along with the help of board members Lefty Gonzalez, Debbie Jo Almager and Phil Schroer - and all our spouses - once again made this a fantastic event."
The annual event - held last year at Paradise Hills Golf Course in Albuquerque - is becoming a welcome tradition for NMHU alumni as they get a chance to catch up with their fellow Cowboys and Cowgirls in a relaxing and fun setting.
The H Club has already determined that next year's tournament will be held at Buffalo Thunder Resort & Casino, the Towa Course, on June 27, 2020. Please save the date and remember to log on
