Daniel Ford Named Strength & Conditioning Coach

Las Vegas, New Mexico - New Mexico Highlands University has announced the hiring of Daniel Ford as the institution's new Strength and Conditioning Coach, bringing a mix of collegiate and military performance experience to the Cowboys and Cowgirls athletic programs.

Ford arrives in Las Vegas after serving at New Mexico Military Institute, where he worked in the strength and conditioning program during two separate stints, including the past several seasons. He previously spent four years at the Institute from 2015–19 before returning in 2020.

A former wide receiver at Wagner College, Ford began his coaching career as a graduate assistant with the Seahawks football program, where he worked for two seasons. He also spent six months as the program's wide receivers coach.

Between his two tenures at NMMI, Ford served as the lead strength coach at Fort Bliss in El Paso, Texas. In that role, he assisted the Army's Second Brigade team with the First Armored Division of the 101st Cavalry Regiment, gaining valuable experience in high-performance training and conditioning.

Ford holds a bachelor's degree in criminal justice with a minor in sociology and is certified as a Certified Strength and Conditioning Specialist (CSCS).

At New Mexico Highlands, Ford will oversee strength and conditioning programming for the university's varsity sports, focusing on performance development, injury prevention, and overall athlete wellness.
