Cowgirls head to Denver for pod weekend against MSU-Denver, Regis

Las Vegas, NM --- The New Mexico Highlands softball team continues conference play with a 3-team pod (NMHU, MSU-Denver, and Regis) that starts on Saturday March 7^th, at 1 pm at the Regis Softball Field in Denver, CO.

ABOUT MSU-DENVER: The Roadrunners are heading in to their second pod weekend in as many weeks where they were able to beat Black Hills State and Dixie State, both twice. The Roadrunners sit in 4^th in the RMAC in batting average at .331 and a .561 slugging percentage while also recording 183 hits, 22 homeruns, and 134 RBI.
 
Olivia Dampier leads the team with a .439 avg (6^th RMAC) with 29 hits, 7 doubles, 2 homeruns, and 23 RBI while Kayla Banks is hitting .415 avg (10^th RMAC) with 22 hits and 8 RBI. Laney Sheppard (.375 avg, 21 hits, 32 RBI), Rebecca Gonzales (.371 avg, 23 hits, 3 HR, 18 RBI), and Megan Sansburn (.339 avg, 21 hits, 3 homeruns, 14 RBI) will also aid the Roadrunners on the weekend.
 
 You can expect to see Darby McGhee in the circle for the Roadrunners as she has pitched in 55 innings while giving up 60 hits, 36 runs, 37 strikeouts, and an ERA of 4.20. You can also expect Kayla Banks (43 hits, 31 runs, 10 strikeouts, 3.78 ERA) and Destinee Lopez (45 hits, 30 runs, 33 strikeouts, 5.20 ERA) in for the Roadrunners.
 
ABOUT REGIS: Regis is coming off a split against Chadron State last weekend and a three game sweep over Adams State the weekend before. The Ranger have a batting average of .270 as a team with 105 hits and 6 homeruns.
 
Shayelyn Allen leads the team with a .357 average, 15 hits and 17 RBI while Taylor Armitage is right behind with a .348 average, 16 hits, 3 homeruns and 11 RBI. Jessi Case (.340 avg, 16 hits, 5 RBI), Laura Scheffel (.286 avg, 16 hits, 5 RBI), and Kynra Nelson (.279, 12 hits, 1 RBI) will also look to aid the Rangers for the weekend.
 
You can expect to see Kara Rodeheaver in the circle as she has started in 8 games and given up 44 hits with 23 runs, 19 strikeouts and an ERA of 2.86. Abby Covington (29 hits, 30 runs, 24 strikeouts, 6.42 ERA) and Taylor Armitage (31 hits, 23 runs, 13 strikeouts, 4.54 ERA) have also pitched for the Rangers.
 
ABOUT THE COWGIRLS: The Cowgirls are coming off a 1-3 weekend against UCCS as Belinda Gonzales earned her first win on the season. The Cowgirls are batting.240 on the year with 119 hits, 8 homeruns, and 50 RBI.
 
Camryn Ziegler leads the team with a .317 batting average, which includes 19 hits, 2 doubles, 2 homeruns, 7 RBI on the season while Ashlea Ortega is hitting .276 with 16 hits, four doubles, 2 homeruns, and 13 RBI. Leah Osborn (.232 avg, 13 hits, 2 homeruns, 5 RBI), Angelina Guthro (.225 avg, 9 hits, 1 homerun, 6 RBI), and Victoria Mata (.391 avg, 9 hits, 3 RBI) will also look to push the Cowgirls with 4 wins over the weekend.
 
Belinda Gonzales will look to make her 11^th start on the season as she has given up 69 hits, 48 runs, and 48 strikeouts with an ERA of 4.10. You can also expect to see Megan Jesionowski (555 hits, 61 runs, 11 strikeouts, 11.12 ERA) and Genise Chavez (41 hits, 43 runs, 9 strikeouts, 10.50 ERA) over the weekend for the Cowgirls.
