COWGIRLS FALL AT NATIONALLY RANKED ANGELO STATE

A tough road trip into the heart of Texas to take on #17-ranked Angelo State, ended with the HU women's soccer team falling to 0-2 to open the season.

Facing a barrage of shots-on-goal from a relentless Belle offense-- ASU took 21 shots including 12 on goal-- Cowgirl goalie Karina Vega saved five, but the host squad prevailed in a lopsided 7-0 game.

The Cowgirls had several scoring chances but were unable to find the back of the net. Nitza Rodriguez (2), Autumn Stewart and Valeria Baca each had shots on goal.

The Cowgirls are back on the road to open Rocky Mountain Athletic Conference play  this weekend with matches against Regis University and Colorado School of Mines. The women will play their first home contests during Homecoming Week (Oct. 1st and 3rd) against Fort Lewis and Colorado Christian.
