LAS VEGAS, N.M. --- The New Mexico Highlands softball team returns to action this weekend as they participate in the Angelo State Tournament Friday and Saturday in San Angelo, Texas.
The Cowgirls (2-2) will take on Texas A&M International and No. 9 Angelo State once each day.
NMHUÂ opened the season going 2-2 at the South Central Region Crossover Feb. 5-6 in Albuquerque. The Cowgirls defeated UTPB 11-10 and Western New Mexico 9-7 while losing to Eastern New Mexico twice, 9-3 and 9-1.
Arianna Ramirez led the team in hitting over the event -going 6-for-11 (.545) with two RBI and a double.
Dioni Lincoln went 5-for-11 (.455) with three doubles and two RBI while
Camrynn Ziegler was 6-for-14 (.429)Â with a homer, five RBI, two doubles and four stolen bases.
Nathalie Blattmann paced NMHU in the circle over the event, going 2-0 with a 2.17 ERA with three strikeouts in 9.2 innings pitched and opponents hitting .286 against her.
Texas A&M International enters the event 4-7 on the season while host Angelo State is 10-1 on the season.
