LAS VEGAS, N.M. --- New Mexico Highlands'
Allen Michel is getting set to compete in the NCAA Championships starting Friday.
Michel at 18-8 on the season at 174 pounds will take on Brock Biddle of Pitt-Johnstown - who is 23-4 - with the winner moving on to take on No. 4 seed Trevor Turriff (17-3) of Minnesota State.
Michel advanced to the NCAA Championships after taking second place at the Super Regionals on Feb. 26. Michel made it to the championship match at 174 pounds after winning by fall over Cody Lewis of Adams State in 51 seconds, pinning Western Colorado's Cole Hernandez at the 6:15 mark and then winning a 5-3 decision over Seth Latham of Colorado Mesa in the semifinals. He fell in the title match at 174 pounds to Austin Eldredge of Nebraska Kearney, 19-3, who is the top-seeded wrestler at the NCAA Championships.
