LAS VEGAS, N.M. --- The New Mexico Highlands baseball team takes on NAIA University of the Southwest in a mid-week doubleheader starting noon Tuesday at Brandt Field.

NMHUÂ split its RMAC four-game series with Colorado School of Mines, dropping the opener 8-4 and the finale 20-10 while winning the middle two games 14-4 and 9-3.

Jared Brown stayed hot to pace the potent Cowboy lineup with another pair of homers over the weekend to give him a team-best 14 (15th in the NCAA) to go along with 48 RBI (35th in the NCAA), 12 doubles, a .345 average and a 1.173 OPS.
Estevan De La O leads the NCAA with 10 triples after hitting two over the weekend and is 15th in the nation and first in the RMAC in hits with 63. He's also hitting .368 with two homers, 23 RBI, a team-best 43 runs and nine doubles.
Brandon Baier leads the team in hitting with a .370 average with eight homers, a team-high 13 doubles, 42 RBI and 37 runs while
Joe Kuhn his hitting .319 with 12 homers, 37 RBI and 40 runs.
Dominick Castillo leads the Cowboys in ERA at 6.75 with 18 strikeouts in 24 innings (15 appearances) while starter
Hunter Waugh is second on the team in ERA at 7.53 with 34 strikeouts in 55 innings (11 starts).
UNIVERSITY OF THE SOUTHWEST HEADING INTO THE SERIES | 2022 STATISTICS
The Mustangs out of Hobbs, New Mexico, are coming off dropping two out of three last weekend at Huston Tillotson - winning the opener 5-0 and losing the next two games 3-2 and 11-8.
Gabriel Perez-Torrez leads the team at the plate with a .402 average with four homers, 17 doubles, six triples, 43 RBI and 34 runs. Brian Rodriguez is hitting .339 with 17 RBI, five doubles and two triples while Tariq Levesque is batting .383 with six homers, 41 RBI, 10 doubles and four triples.
Caden Davis has been the top reliever for USW with a 2.21 ERA and 19 strikeouts in 20.1 innings while Cody Stone (3.59 ERA, 53 SO, 52.2 IP) and AJ Cordova (3.68 ERA, 58.2 IP, 60 SO) have been the Mustangs' top two starters.
