NMHU baseball continues RMAC play at CSU Pueblo starting Friday

LAS VEGAS, N.M. --- The New Mexico Highlands baseball team returns to RMAC play Friday as it hits the road to take on CSU Pueblo.

NMHU is coming off splitting a pod against UCCS and Colorado School of Mines in Golden, Colorado, last weekend - splitting a pair of games against each team. It was a huge weekend for Jared Brown as the senior blasted five homers and drove in 10 runs during the series to earn RMAC Player of the Week and NCWBA South Central Region Hitter of the Week honors.

Brown now is hitting .342 with an OPS of 1.120 (11th in the RMAC) with 10 home runs (tied for fourth), 10 doubles (tied for 11th) and 37 RBI (tied for third). Brandon Baier leads the team in hitting at .374 with seven homers, 36 RBI (tied for sixth) and 11 doubles (tied for seventh). Estevan De La O is tied for the national lead in triples with seven to go along with a .353 average, a homer, six doubles, 16 RBI and 30 runs while Joe Kuhn is hitting .306 with 10 homers (tied with Brown for fourth in the conference) with 28 RBI.

Dominick Castillo has a team-best 4.26 ERA out of the bullpen for the Cowboys with 14 strikeouts in 19 innings pitched (12 appearances). Hunter Waugh has led the NMHU starters with a 7.29 ERA with 27 strikeouts in 42 innings.

The ThunderWolves are coming off a pod weekend it hosted against MSU Denver and Colorado Christian - splitting a pair of games against those teams.

CSU Pueblo has five hitters with an OPS of 1.000 or better and a .336 average or better in Reggie Williams (.410 AVG, 1.020 OPS, 1 HR, 23 RBI, 9 2B), Brady Prewitt (.394 AVG, 1.065 OPS, 4 HR, 11 2B, 31 RBI, 37 R), Noah Hennings (.355 AVG, 1.014 OPS, 2 HR, 31 RBI, 12 2B, 4 3B, 35 R), Trey Vasquez (.339 AVG, 1.011 OPS, 4 HR, 6 2B, 5 3B, 36 RBI, 33 R) and Ty Lewis (.336 AVG, 1.009 OPS, 6 HR, 32 RBI, 31 R).

Zach Pratt has been the ThunderWolves' top pitcher at 3-1 with 3.07 ERA and 26 strikeouts in 29.1 innings. Frank Wierman has been CSU Pueblo's top arm out of the bullpen with a 4.32 ERA with 28 strikeouts and three saves in 16.2 innings.
