Box Score Las Vegas, NM- NMHU Softball got off to a hot start on Sunday morning, unlike the weather. Cold winds stalked the Cowgirls and Grizzlies all morning as they struggled to play with dirt clouds often suffocating everyone in attendance. The weather was not the only thing suffocating players as pitcher
Karla Banegas made it extremely hard for the Grizzlies to score. Karla held the Grizzlies to one point and got 3 out on four pitches in the 4th.
Megan Gutierrez led the Cowgirls with 3 hits in all of her three at bats.Â
In game 2 the weather was even more aggressive as snow/rain combined with the cold winds. The Cowgirls got off to a slow start as they found themselves down 1-6 at the top of the 4th inning. After Arianna Ramirez held the Grizzlies to no scores in the 4th inning the Cowgirl's offense came roaring back. NMHU closed the gap and brought the game to 4-6 with a runner on 1st and 3rd. Next up to bat was Maya Milano who had previously hit a double that was nearly over the gate. The Cowgirls were in a prime position to make a comeback for a full series sweep before low temperatures caused a game delay.Â
The Cowgirls and The Adams State Grizzlies will attempt to resume play at a later date.
