Carlsen Earns CSC Academic All-District Honors

Las Vegas, New Mexico - Junior setter Abby Carlsen from the New Mexico Highlands volleyball team was named to the College Sports Communicators (CSC) Academic All-District First Team this morning.

The 2024 Academic All-District® Women's Volleyball teams, selected by College Sports Communicators, recognize the nation's top student-athletes for their combined performances on the court and in the classroom. The CSC Academic All-America® program separately recognizes women's volleyball honorees in four divisions — NCAA Division I, NCAA Division II, NCAA Division III and NAIA.

Carlsen appeared in all 26 matches for New Mexico Highlands this fall. The product of Cibola High School in Albuquerque was ninth in the Rocky Mountain Athletic Conference in 2024 with 6.35 assists per set. She also recorded 15 service aces and 205 digs for the Cowgirls. In the classroom Carlsen has 3.71 grade point average while majoring in Biology.

"This is well deserved recognition for Abby," said Head Coach Meg Grose. "We are so proud of her accomplishments on and off the court. We are working on changing the culture here and she is the type of student-athlete we want representing Cowgirl Volleyball."

Carlsen was named to the 2024 Rocky Mountain Athletic Conference All-Academic Honor Roll last month.
