Kapiolani Anitielu was named this week's Defensive Player of the Week the conference office announced this afternoon.
Anitielu was a force on both ends of the court as NMHU defeated Black Hills State and Chadron State last week. Her defensive play helped the Cowgirls force 45 turnovers in the two games. She had 12 steals, two blocked shots, and nine rebounds on the weekend. In Thursday's win over the Yellow Jackets she scored a career high 28 points.
"I am super excited for Sugar to get Defensive Player of the Week," said Head Coach
Lindsey Fearing. "I'm glad all her hard work in practice and games is being recognized. Our team wouldn't be where it is without her. Exciting time to be a Cowgirl!"

Juliana Aragon was named among the Offensive Honorable Mentions in this week's RMAC release.
The Cowgirls return to action this Thursday at the University of Colorado-Colorado Springs. Tip-off is scheduled for 5:00 pm.
