Portales, New Mexico - Eastern New Mexico halted the Cowgirls' three-match winning streak with a 3–1 win in Monday night's non-conference match up. With the loss, the Cowgirls drop to 7–10 on the season, while the Greyhounds improve to 4–13 overall.
The Greyhounds topped the Cowgirls in a tightly contested match on Monday, narrowly taking three of four sets: 26-24, 14-25, 25-22, 26-24.
"Hats off to Eastern New Mexico tonight, we were not ready to play and they took full advantage of it," said Cowgirls' head coach
Meg Grose. "We need to get back to basics and prepare for a tough trip to South Dakota this weekend."
Arianna Jamerson led the Cowgirls with 17 kills, marking her fifth consecutive match - and eighth overall this season - with double-digit kills.
Elise Fourt had a career high seven blocks in the match.
NMHU out-hit the Greyhounds .129 to .127.
Monday's win by the Greyhounds snapped a modest three match NMHU winning streak in the series dating back to the 2017 season.
The Cowgirls return to conference play later this week, traveling to face South Dakota Mines on Friday, followed by a match up at Black Hills State on Saturday.
