Chadron, Nebraska – The Cowgirls played game one of the power pod this evening in Chadron with Black Hills State.
Set one was all NMHU, led by a five-point run at the start of the set, in which the Cowgirls jumped out to an early lead. Three of the five were service aces by
Jaylee Gonzales.
Set two was controlled by the Yellow Jackets. Black Hills State takes set two 25-20. The Cowgirls would bounce back in set three, which was a back-and-forth affair, and after a five-point run by the Yellow Jackets, the Cowgirls would put the Yellow Jackets away with a 5-0 run themselves to take set three.
Set four, led by
Elise Fourt and
Aziza Morris, the Cowgirls won set four to take the match 3-1.
Leaders: Aziza Morris and
Elise Fourt led the way in kills with 12 apiece.
"A little sloppy at times tonight, but I like the way we battled and picked up the win. We've got to be ready for Chadron State tomorrow on their court, " said Head Coach
Meg Grose following the win tonight.
