Cowgirls Sweep Chadron State On Saturday; Go 2-0 On Nebraska Trip

Chadron, Nebraska - The Cowgirls closed out RMAC Power Pod play this weekend with a 3-0 win over Chadron State. With the win NMHU improves to 11-12 overall while Chadron State is now 5-17 overall.

NMHU won the match 25-21, 25-20, 25-23 for their fifth sweep of the season.

"I'm really proud of the way the team played today! We handled our side of the net really well and came out with a sweep on the road," said head coach Meg Grose. "This is a good way to head into the final two weeks of the season."

A trio of Cowgirls recorded double digit kills in the match led by Aziza Morris who had 13. Arianna Jamerson added 12 while Elise Fourt logged 10.

Naya Dornic and Jaylee Gonzales each had three service aces.

Defensively, the Cowgirls recorded 53 digs with Becca Wiersema (17), Abby Carlsen (13), and Marissa Sandoval-Moya (10) in double figures.

The Cowgirls were sharp offensively, hitting .283 for the match — their second-best mark of the season.

The Cowgirls play the final non-conference match of 2025 on Tuesday evening when they welcome Western New Mexico to historic Las Vegas. Match time is set for 6:00 pm. Tuesday has been designated a Black Out match with all fans encouraged to wear black. Additionally, the first 100 fans at the match will receive a rally towel courtesy of Quality Care.

NOTES

This weekend's Power Pod matches with Black Hills State and Chadron State were non-conference matches.

Senior Abby Carlsen eclipsed the 1,000 career assist mark in Saturday's win.

With this weekend's sweep, the Cowgirls were 2-0 for the first time ever in an RMAC Pod weekend.
