Wrestling Heads To Younes Hospitality Open

Las Vegas, New Mexico - The New Mexico Highlands Wrestling Team is on the road for the 14th annual Younes Hospitality Open, hosted by the University of Nebraska-Kearney. Moving this year to the Kearney SportsPlex, the tournament will begin at 8:00 AM on Saturday with Coach Chris Freije travelling 24 Cowboy wrestlers to the tournament.

NMHU, among teams receiving votes in the National Wrestling Coaches Association preseason Division II Poll, is 2-2 overall and 0-2 in the RMAC on the young season. The Cowboys lost 24-13 to nationally ranked Colorado Mesa last Sunday afternoon in front of a standing room only crowd at the Buffalo Hall in historic Las Vegas.

Individually a pair of Cowboys are in this week's rankings by The Open Mat with Ivan Smith ranked seventh at 165 pounds and Sebastian Freeman ranked 16th at 149 pounds.

Younes Hospitality Open Live Results

After their trip to Nebraska, the Cowboys will have a couple of weeks to prepare for a match-up with Fort Hays State on December 17th Peyton, Colorado.
