Las Vegas, New Mexico - The New Mexico Highlands Wrestling Team is on the road for the 14th annual Younes Hospitality Open, hosted by the University of Nebraska-Kearney. Moving this year to the Kearney SportsPlex, the tournament will begin at 8:00 AM on Saturday with Coach
Chris Freije travelling 24 Cowboy wrestlers to the tournament.
NMHU, among teams receiving votes in the National Wrestling Coaches Association preseason Division II Poll, is 2-2 overall and 0-2 in the RMAC on the young season. The Cowboys lost 24-13 to nationally ranked Colorado Mesa last Sunday afternoon in front of a standing room only crowd at the Buffalo Hall in historic Las Vegas.
Individually a pair of Cowboys are in this week's rankings by The Open Mat with
Ivan Smith ranked seventh at 165 pounds and
Sebastian Freeman ranked 16th at 149 pounds.
