Kapiolani Anitielu was named the Tournament Most Valuable Player at this weekend's Great Western Shootout. Â
Anitielu averaged 23.0 points per game while shooting 55.0 percent (11-of-20) from the field. She also contributed 4.0 rebounds per game, along with four assists, three steals, and two blocks over the tournament.
She was joined on the All-Tournament Team by teammate
Aniya Johnson, who posted 19.5 points per game on an impressive 66.7 percent (12-of-18) shooting performance. Johnson added 10 rebounds, four steals, and two blocks for the Cowgirls.
New Mexico Highlands returns to action on January 8 when it travels to face nationally ranked Colorado Mesa. Tipoff is set for 5:00 pm.
