Las Vegas, New Mexico - The Cowboys head back to the mid west this weekend for the Bob Smith Open in Hays, Kansas. Action is set to get underway at 7:30 am (MT) at Gross Memorial Coliseum on the campus of Fort Hays State. Over 340 wrestlers from 23 different schools are expected to compete in this year's event.
This is the first action for the Cowboys since the Younes Hospitality Open in Nebraska last month.
"Our guys wrestled hard. They worked to score points, wrestled through a lot of tough positions, and earned a good number of bonus point wins on the day," said Head Coach
Chris Freije after the tournament in Nebraska.
The Cowboys are 2-2 in duals this season and are among the teams receiving votes in the most recent National Wrestling Coaches Association Division II Top 25.
Individually,
Ivan Smith is ranked sixth at 165 pounds in the NWCA Poll.
