Cowgirls Host Westminster And Colorado Mesa

Las Vegas, New Mexico - The Cowgirls are home for games with Westminster and Colorado Mesa this week. The Cowgirls are 11-9 overall and 8-6 in the RMAC after beating Adams State and Fort Lewis last week.

THE FEARING FILE: Lindsey Fearing is in her first year leading the Cowgirls having been named Head Coach on May 3rd, 2024. The Black Hills State graduate picked up her first career win on November 9th when NMHU beat Western New Mexico 80-60. She recorded her first RMAC win on December 7th as the Cowgirls topped Colorado School of Mines 74-73 in overtime.

ARAGON AGAIN: One week removed from scoring her 1,000th career point, Juliana Aragon recorded her 250th career assist in Saturday's win over Fort Lewis. She now has 1,060points and 253 assists in her New Mexico Highlands career.

STATISTICALLY SPEAKING: Junior Juliana Aragon is seventh in the RMAC in scoring at 17.0 points per game, fourth in assists with 4.3 per game, and ninth with 2.0 steals per game. She is eighth in the conference in field goal percentage at 44.6% and second in free throw percentage at 84.8%. Aragon's Assist/Turnover ratio of 1.3 is tied for sixth best in the RMAC.

Freshman Kapiolani Anitielu is eighth in the conference in scoring at 16.7 points per game, sixth in three pointers made per game at 2.0, and fifth with a three-point field goal percentage of 31.3%. She is also seventh in blocked shots (1.0 per game) and seventh in steals (2.0 per game).

As a team, the Cowgirls are second in the RMAC in scoring at 70.8 points per game and second in the conference with a 43.1% field goal percentage.

SCOUTING THE OPPOSITION: Westminster is 5-16 overall and 4-10 in the RMAC after defeating the Colorado School of Mines 78-76 in their last outing. Junior Teuila Nawahine is the Griffins leading scorer at 12.2 points per game. Maunayia Harrigfield is fourth in the RMAC with 20.4 rebounds per game. Asami Morita is in her second season as the head coach at Westminster. Thursday's game is the only meeting in 2024-25 between the two teams.

Colorado Mesa is 17-4 overall and 12-2 in conference play. The Mavericks were among the teams receiving votes in the week's WBCA NCAA Division II poll. Olivia Reed leads Colorado Mesa in scoring at 21.8 points per game and rebounding with 11.0 per game. Taylor Wagner has a 286-88 record in 13 seasons as the CMU head coach. The Mavericks defeated the Cowgirls 86-54 earlier this season in Grand Junction.
