Las Vegas, New Mexico - The Cowgirls close out the 2024-25 regular season in South Dakota this week with games at South Dakota Mines on Thursday evening and Black Hills State on Saturday afternoon.
THE FEARING FILE:
Lindsey Fearing is in her first year leading the Cowgirls having been named Head Coach on May 3rd, 2024. The Black Hills State graduate picked up her first career win on November 9th when NMHU beat Western New Mexico 80-60. She recorded her first RMAC win on December 7th as the Cowgirls topped Colorado School of Mines 74-73 in overtime.
STATISTICALLY SPEAKING: Junior
Juliana Aragon is ninth in the RMAC in scoring at 16.0 points per game, third in assists with 4.5 per game, and tied for sixth with 2.0 steals per game. She is ninth in the conference in field goal percentage at 43.1% and second in free throw percentage at 86.0%. Aragon's Assist/Turnover ratio of 1.4 is tied for fourth best in the RMAC.
Freshman
Kapiolani Anitielu is eighth in the conference in scoring at 16.3 points per game and fifth in three pointers made per game at 2.0. She is also fourth in blocked shots (1.1 per game) and tied for sixth in steals (2.0 per game).
As a team, the Cowgirls are third in the RMAC in scoring at 70.2 points per game and second in the conference with a 42.9% field goal percentage.
SCOUTING THE OPPOSITION: South Dakota Mines is 6-19 overall and 6-12 in conference play entering Thursday's game. Savea Mansfield is averaging 13.3 points per game and Morning Grace Spotted Bear averages 8.4 points per game to lead South Dakota Mines this season. Jeri Jacobson is in her sixth season at South Dakota Mines where she has a record of 52-103. This is the only meeting of the 2023-24 season between the two teams.
Black Hills State is 16-9 overall and 12-6 in conference play. The Yellow Jackets host Adams State on Thursday before entertaining the Cowgirls Saturday afternoon. Haylee Weathersby leads BHUS in scoring at 13.6 points per game while Kalla Bertram is the leading rebounder at 7.1 per game. Rachel Erickson is in her first season at Black Hills State. The Cowgirls topped the Yellow Jackets 77-63 on January 16th in a game played in historic Las Vegas.
