Grand Junction, Colorado - The Cowboys dropped Saturday's series opener at Colorado Mesa 11-4 to drop to 8-9 overall and 0-1 in conference play. The series was originally scheduled to be played in historic Las Vegas but snow forced a move to Grand Junction. The Cowboys will be the home team in each of this weekend's games.
The story of the game, offensively, for NMHU was junior catcher
Bryant O'Neil who blasted two more home runs on Saturday. The first, a solo shot, coming in the home half of the fifth to get the Cowboys' first run on the board. His second of the day was a two out, three run homer in the ninth inning that scored
Roman Robles and
Gael Bernal. O'Neil is now seventh in the RMAC with seven home runs on the season.
Dominick Castillo got the start and took the loss for NMHU.
The two teams play a doubleheader tomorrow with the first game getting under way at 1:00 pm.
