Grand Junction, Colorado - The Cowgirls dropped a pair of five inning games on Sunday at Colorado Mesa losing the first game 10-1 and dropping game two by an 18-1 count. NMHU is now 8-18 on the season and 2-14 in the RMAC.
Heaven Medina opened the first game on Sunday with her fourth home run of the season to put NMHU up 1-0. Unfortunately that would be all the scoring for the Cowgirls as the host Mavericks put the game out of reach five runs in the third and four in the fourth innings. In addition to the Medina homer,
Andrea DeLaTrinidad and
Amaya Castille recorded hits in the game.
NMHU was only able to push across one run in the second game as well. That came in the third inning when
Heaven Medina reached on an error that allowed
Giana Marez to score.
The Cowgirls return home for doubleheaders with UCCS this coming Saturday and Sunday.
