Las Vegas, New Mexico - The Cowboys were out slugged by CSU-Pueblo 16-4 in the opening game of the weekend series on Friday afternoon. With the loss NMHU falls to 9-24 overall and 1-16 in the Rocky Mountain Athletic Conference.
The visiting Thunderwolves bats were too much for the Cowboys as they scored 16 runs on 19 hits en route to the win. They had seven extra base hits including three homers on the afternoon.
Offensively for NMHU,
Bryant O'Neil and
Tony Leger each had two hits in the game and
Tucker Simpson recorded two RBI.
O'Neil is now hitting a team best .402 and has reached base in 16 consecutive games.
Dominick Castillo got the start and took the loss for the Cowboys.
The two teams play a doubleheader on Saturday afternoon in Las Vegas. First pitch is set for 12:00 pm.
