MSU-Denver Takes Two From Cowboys On Monday

Denver, Colorado - The Cowboys lost both ends of Monday's doubleheader at MSU-Denver by scores of 5-3 and 10-3. NMHU is now 9-23 overall and 1-15 in RMAC play.

Bryant O'Neil got the Cowboys on the board in their half of the first inning when he hit his team-leading 11th homer of the season to right center field. The Roadrunners answered with a run in the bottom half of the first to knot the game at 1-1. The hosts added another run in the bottom of the fifth inning to take the 2-1.

Trailing 2-1 Gael Bernal's triple plated Ryan Callanan in the top of the seventh to tie the game at 2-2. Two batters later Bernal scored to give the Cowboys a 3-2 lead. The Roadrunners answered with three runs in the bottom of the seventh to take a 5-3 lead. The Cowboys got runners on base in the eighth and ninth inning but could not push across another run, allowing MSU-Denver to escape with the win.

Andrew Rodriguez got the start in game one and posted six strong innings allowing just two runs while striking out seven.

In Monday's second game, the Cowboys did all their offensive damage in the third inning when Forrest Simpson hit his third home run of the season that scored Bryant O'Neil and Lubby Marrujo.

The Cowboys are home for a four game series with CSU-Pueblo beginning on Friday at 3:00 pm.
