Alamosa, Colorado - The Cowgirls split Monday's doubleheader at Adams State winning the opener 8-0 in six innings before falling 8-7 in the second game. NMHU is now 13-28 overall and 7-25 in conference play.
Jazmyn Griego picked up on Monday morning where she left off on Sunday afternoon, posting a dominate performance in the circle and helping her own cause at the plate. Griego tossed her second consecutive complete game shutout as she scattered seven hits and struck out five to pick up her seventh win of the season. Offensively she went two for four with a double and three RBI.
Amaya Castille and Karla Benegas also had multi hit games in the win.
The Cowgirls played from behind for virtually the entire second game. Despite that, the Cowgirls were still in a position to win as they got the go ahead runner to the plate in the top half of the seventh inning.
Heaven Medina singled up the middle to score
Andrea DeLaTrinidad to pull NMHU within one at 8-7. The late game rally would end there however.
Median was four for four in the game with two RBI. She now has a team leading batting average of .404 which is 11th best in the RMAC.
The Cowgirls are back on the road next weekend as they travel to Denver for a series at Regis beginning on Saturday at 12:00 pm.
