Las Vegas, New Mexico - New Mexico Highlands University head volleyball coach
Meg Grose announced her recruiting class for the upcoming season this afternoon. This year's class features four true freshmen and four transfers.
"We are extremely excited for this recruiting class. We have a solid group of returning athletes and this signing class is going to help with the push we need to become a more competitive program," said Head Coach
Meg Grose.
She continued, "All of our signees come from competitive high school or college programs and are going to come in and push the group we have on campus. I am counting down the days till we get the team back on campus to get to work and get after it this fall."
Lenaea Carr 6-2 | Middle Blocker | Las Cruces High School | Las Cruces, NM
Carr joins the Cowgirls after helping the Las Cruces Bulldawgs to back-to-back 5A State Championships. Three year starter at Las Cruces where she earned All-Conference honors.
Adyson Hudson 5-1 | Defensive Specialist | Boerne High School | Boerne, TX
Adding depth to the defense for NMHU, Hudson comes to Las Vegas from Boerne High School near San Antonio, Texas, where she played for Coach Staci Lawrence. Earned District Newcomer of the year honors. Academic All-District in 2023 and 2024.
Heiress Palepoi 5-9 | Outside Hitter | Tafuna High School | Tafuna, American Samoa
Comes to NMHU from Tafuna High School in American Samoa. Palepoi's play was key in her high school team capturing an Island Championship title last season. Played for Coach Anthony Ta'atiti in high school.
Marissa Sandoval-Moya 5-5 | Setter | St. Michael's High School | Santa Fe, NM
A highly decorated setter, Sandoval-Moya led her high school team to three consecutive state championships. Earned All-District and All-State accolades and was also named District MVP. Competed in track and field at St. Michael's and won the 2025 district championship in the javelin.
Martinaya Dornic 5-6 | Setter | Cal State - LA | Wallis-et-Futuna, France
Dornic adds depth at the setter position after competing for Cal State-LA last season. She appeared in six matches a year ago for the Golden Eagles and recorded a career high 18 assists in a win over Seattle Pacific at the Yotes Classic in San Bernardino.
Yuli Favela 5-9 | Middle Blocker | New Mexico Military Institute | El Paso, TX
Favela's play helped NMMI to back-to-back undefeated seasons in conference play. She earned WJCAA All-Conference honors at NMMI. She was named the NMMI Bronco Scholar Female Athlete of the Year and was the NMMI Valedictorian.
Elise Fourt 6-1 | Middle Blocker | UT-Rio Grande Valley | Brownsville, TX
Fourt comes to NMHU from UT Rio Grande Valley where she helped the Vaqueros to a 12-4 record in the Southland Conference in 2024. She recorded 66 kills and 45 blocks while appearing in 22 matches and 75 sets last season UT Rio Grande Valley.
Becca Wiersema 5-6 | Defensive Specialist | Northeastern Junior College | Loveland, CO
Comes to Las Vegas from Northeastern Junior College in Sterling, Colorado, where she played volleyball for Coach Kenzie Chrisman. Helped Northeastern to the NJCAAÂ playoffs in both of her seasons. A versatile athlete, Wiersema also played basketball at Northeastern last season.
The Cowgirls open the 2025 regular season at the Western New Mexico Tournament in Silver City on September 5th.
