Â
Last Time Out:
The Cowgirls and Yellow Jackets prepared for battle however todays game also was part of the RMAC Mental Health Week match sponsored by RADical Hope.
Â
A strong start for the Cowgirls as it seemed that a reset button had been hit between their game against South Dakota Mines and today's match and the strong start forced a Yellow Jackets timeout. The timeout seemed to slow the momentum of the Cowgirls and the run by the Yellow Jackets forced a Cowgirls timeout. The Cowgirls lead also dissipated in the set. The Cowgirls battled in the set, but it was not enough as the Yellow Jackets took the set.
Â
The Cowgirls had a block party in the second set, and it was the reason they took a big lead. Despite the large lead in the set the Yellow Jackets battled and the Cowgirls had to find a way to hang on to the large lead and that they did to take the set and tie the match at a set a piece lead.
Â
Set three proved to give neither team enough breathing room as the points were exchanged back and forth the Cowgirls, however, took a 22-20 lead to force a Black Hills State timeout. The two point cushion prior to the timeout was all the room the Cowgirls were going to need as they captured the third set and put the Yellow Jackets backs against the wall.
Â
Set four showed the Cowgirls taking the early lead but the lead began to fade as the Yellow Jackets battled back into the match and the Cowgirls had to fight to keep the win alive. After tying the match at 23 each team continued to put points on the board to force the set into extra points and ultimately Black Hills State would come away with the victory in set four 27-25.
Â
Onto five the match played the fifth and final set each team came out swinging, but the Yellow Jackets set cruise control later and ended up walking away with a victory despite the many Cowgirl efforts to slow the momentum.

Scouting The Opposition
Â
Western Colorado:
The start of the road trip leads to Gunnison Colorado for the second time this year the Cowgirls will face Western Colorado. The first time was the second game of the year in Virginia Harris and Jeanie Miller invitational to start the year as The Mountaineers took that match in three. Western is 7-11 overall and 2-6 in conference. Despite that the Mountaineers in Gunnison are very good at home. 6-3 overall at home and 1-6 on the road. They are also on a four-game losing streak and look to break that this weekend.
Â
Fort Lewis:
The Cowgirls will also face Fort Lewis for the second time this season, the first one being in Historic Las Vegas back in September for the RMAC regional pod. Fort Lewis won that match. However, Fort Lewis comes into this match 10-8 overall and 4-4 in conference. The Skyhawks have only played three total matches at home and are 3-0 in those matches.
