Las Vegas, New Mexico - After a quick trip to Alamosa this past Tuesday the Cowgirls will face the Skyhawks of Fort Lewis as they battle for playoff positioning.

LAST TIME OUT:
1st Half: Adams State (ASU) 35- NMHU 28

The first half was a competitive matchup as the Cowgirls were feeding the ball in the paint. However, with a couple of key pieces missing, someone had to step up. Aniya Johnson did just that. As she would have a career day. The Cowgirls would use points in the paint to keep up with the Grizzlies.
However, in the second quarter, Adams State began to pull away, opening the quarter five of six on shots and rebounding better. The Cowgirls did out-rebound the Grizzlies overall, just not in the first half, as Adams State took the lead into the half.

2nd Half: ASU 71- NMHU 65

The Cowgirls continued to dominate in the paint, as 40 of their points would come in the paint, and 22 of Aniya Johnson's points would come via shots in the paint. However, the Grizzlies did just enough, outshooting the Cowgirls from beyond the arc and in total FG percentage this evening.

CAREER HIGH: Aniya Johnson's 29 points that evening were a career high, surpassing her previous career high of 21 set last season against Colorado School of Mines.

SCOUTING THE OPPOSITION:

Fort Lewis:

The Skyhawks enter the matchup at 13-7 overall and 6-6 in conference play. Lauren Zuniga is in her second season at the helm of the Skyhawks in 2025-26. The Skyhawks beat the Cowgirls earlier in the season in Durango, Colorado.

UP NEXT: The Cowgirls are on the road as they head to Salt Lake City and Grand Junction to face Westminster and Colorado Mesa.
