Las Vegas, New Mexico - The Cowgirls are 7-17 overall and 5-7 in Rocky Mountain Athletic Conference play dropping three of four games at Black Hills State last weekend.
They return home this weekend for a conference series with Colorado Mesa with doubleheaders on Saturday and Sunday.
This weekend's games have been designated "Pink Games" presented by Quality Care.
RMAC PLAYER OF THE WEEK: New Mexico Highlands junior
Jazmyn Griego earned the Rocky Mountain Athletic Conference (RMAC) Softball Player of the Week.
Griego went 11-for-17 (.647) at the plate in the Cowgirls' four-game series at Black Hills State that concluded yesterday. The junior drove in 11 runs and scored three while striking out just once during the series. New Mexico Highlands scored 27 total runs over the weekend, with Griego accounting for 14 of them.
Griego's conference recognition comes on the heels of her teammate
Jolissa Valdez being named last week's RMAC Pitcher of the Week.

RMAC POLL: New Mexico Highlands was selected to finish ninth in the 2026 Rocky Mountain Athletic Conference Preseason Softball Coaches' Poll after finishing last season 15-38 overall and 9-35 in conference play.
This week's foe, Colorado Mesa, earned three first place place votes and was tabbed for a 2nd place finish in the poll.
CHALLENGING SCHEDULE: The Cowgirls opened the season with five ranked programs on their non-conference schedule, including the defending Division II champions, and the 2025 RMAC champions to open conference play.

SCOUTING THE OPPOSITION:Colorado Mesa enters play this weekend with and overall record of 10-10 and a 9-3 mark in conference play after taking three of four games from Colorado School of Mines last weekend in Golden. Mercedes Bohte is in her sixth season leading the Mavericks program. Offensively, Brynn Escobar leads Colorado Mesa with a .349 batting average and 22 hits. In the circle, Arizona native Sophia Tassinari boasts a 6-5 record and 1.80 ERA. Colorado Mesa swept the season series from the Cowgirls last year, winning all four games in Grand Junction.
