Las Vegas, New Mexico - MSU Denver, receiving votes in this week's ABCA Top 25 poll, stayed unbeaten in RMAC play with a 19-5 win over New Mexico Highlands on Thursday afternoon at Brandt Field.
The Roadrunners (25-6, 13-0 RMAC) jumped out early with six runs in the first inning and never trailed, finishing with 17 hits and scoring in six of seven innings.
New Mexico Highlands (6-25, 1-12 RMAC) answered with three runs in the second and two in the third to cut the deficit to 12-5, but couldn't slow MSU Denver the rest of the way.
Truett Ross had two hits to lead the Cowboys, with
Johnathan Davis driving in two runs and
Ryan Rodriguez adding an RBI double.
Andrew Baltazar (1-5) took the loss for the Cowboys.
The two teams continue the series with a doubleheader Friday beginning at 12:00 p.m. at Brandt Field.
