Cowboys Stumble Against Nebraska-Kearney

The NMHU Cowboys fell to the University of Nebraska-Kearney by a final score of 14-4 on 3/11. The Lopers would jump out early on the Cowboys as they would outscore the Cowboys five runs to one within the first three innings of play. The Lopers would pull away with a big seven run sixth inning to make the score 13-1 after six innings played. The Cowboys would score three runs off of a Michael Garcia homerun in the eighth inning, but that wouldn't be enough for the Cowboys as the Lopers took game one of their four game RMAC series by a final score of 14-4. With the loss, the Cowboys fall to 5-7 on the season and 1-4 in RMAC play.

The Cowboys would finish the day with a .333 team batting average while hitting one double and one homerun. Cole Davis and Michael Garcia would finish the day with the high offensive numbers for the Cowboys. Davis would come off the bench to finish 2-2 with one double and Garcia would also come off the bench to finish 1-2 with one run scored, three RBI's and one homerun.

Trent Evins (1-3) got the start for the Cowboys on the mound and would finish the day allowing 13 runs on 13 hits while striking out two batters in five innings pitched. Xavier Tavorn would come in for relief of Evins and allow no runs on one hit while retiring two UNK batters in two innings pitched. Chris Waha would then come in and allow one run on no hits in three batters faced. Antonio Huez Robles would then come in for Waha and allow no runs and no hits in one inning pitched. Steven Becerra would then come in for the Cowboys in the ninth inning and allow no runs and one hit while striking out two UNK batters in one inning pitched.

The Cowboys will take the field again on 3/12 as they take on the UNK Lopers in games two and three of their four game RMAC series. First pitch is scheduled for 12:00 p.m.
