Cowgirls Finish 2011 Season

The NMHU Cowgirls dropped their last series of the year on the road against Regis University on 4/30-5/1. The Cowgirls were dominated in the first game by the Rangers' Bianca Holley who threw a one hit, complete game, shutout from the pitcher's circle to seal the victory for Regis 5-0. In game two, the Cowgirls were down 1-0 when Ashley Paiz's RBI single scored Alisha Perry to tie the game up and send it into extra innings. The Rangers scored the winning run in the bottom of the eighth inning to secure the 2-1 victory. On 5/1, the Cowgirls attempted a comeback in game three when Roxanne Avalos hit a three-run home run to left field, closing the gap to within one run, but it wouldn't be enough as the Rangers came away with the win 6-5. In game four, the Cowgirls were stopped in the fifth inning when the Rangers completed the eight run rule with two RBIs to win the last game of the series 9-1. With the conference losses against Regis University the Cowgirls, led by Head Coach Shellie Broyles, finish the season with a 6-34 record in the RMAC and 10-43 in overall play.
