The NMHU Cowboys continued their RMAC dominance on 3/10 defeating the Lopers of the University of Nebraska-Kearney in games two and three of their four game series. The Cowboys defeated the Lopers in game one 26-10 and 10-2 in game two. With the wins, the Pokes improve to 13-1 on the season and 7-0 in RMAC play.
In game one the Cowboys had a season high 26 runs on 24 hits. The Cowboys racked up nine doubles, one triple and two homeruns in game one en route to their 26-10 win over the Lopers.
Josh McMahon finished the day for the Pokes a perfect 4-4 with three runs scored, six RBI's, one double and one homerun.
Luis Saenz finished 5-6 with four runs scored, four RBI's and three doubles.
Kyle Davis rounds out the top three performers for the Pokes going 3-4 with two runs scored, three RBI's, one double and one triple.
Ray Torres got the start on the mound for the Cowboys in game one. Torres struggled as he allowed eight runs on eight hits and struck out one batter in two innings pitched.
David Saiz would come in for relief of Torres and allow one run and no hits in two-thirds of an inning pitched.
Cachot Duncan (1-0) came in for Saiz and stabilized thing for the Cowboys on the mound. Duncan held the Lopers scoreless and allowed just three hits while striking out two UNK batters earning himself his win of the season.
Gavin Hite then came in for Duncan and closed out the win for the Pokes, allowing no earned runs on one hit while striking out two batters.
In game two the NMHU offensive juggernaut continued to roll as the Cowboys tallied up 10 runs in the second inning against UNK. That would be all that the Cowboys needed as the NMHU defense held the Lopers to just two runs for the game and cruised to their thirteenth win of the season 10-2 over UNK. The Cowboys finished game two hitting .353 as a team against the Lopers, who were 4-0 in RMAC play going into their series with NMHU.
Derek Ward finished the game 2-4 with one run scored, four RBI's and one homerun.
Kyle Davis finished 2-4 with two runs scored, two RBI's and one homerun.
Thomas King rounds out the top three finishing 2-4 with one run scored and two RBI's.
Eric Maupin (1-0) got the start and the win for the Cowboys pitching a complete game against UNK. Maupin allowed just two runs on seven hits and struck out a season high 11 batters to earn the Cowboys their thirteenth win of the season.
The Cowboys will close out their series with UNK on 3/11 in Kearney, Neb. First pitch is scheduled for 12:00 p.m.
