The 2012 Cowboys tied their 2001 and 2010 win record with 41. Highlands (41-16) fell to #8 St. Cloud State (48-13), 4-2 in the NCAA DII Central Region Tournament. Highlands earned their first round regional win in the tournament under Jones' tenure.

Ray Torres (5-3) on the hill. Torres threw for five complete, including fanning four of the 29 he faced.
Richard Sandoval finished the game for the Cowboys and struck out two of the 15.
Derek Ward swung at the first pitch of the ball game and sent it over the left field fence but the Husky's answered back scoring a run in each of the first two innings holding the lead into the sixth inning.
Thomas King scored Highlands' final run in the sixth on a single from
Jordan Falcon. St. Cloud notched their go-ahead lead with a single up the middle, which scored their runner from third.
King led the Pokes on the day hitting two-for-three with one run and one stolen base.
“This club fought through a ton of injuries and overcame some huge obstacles in winning 41 games and finishing third in the region. If there was ever a total team effort, it was this season,” highlighted Head Coach
Steve Jones. “I'm very proud of my out going seniors and look forward to next season with our returners and incoming players. Cowboy alumni should be very proud.”
