Box Score SILVER CITY, N.M.- For the last match of the season, the Cowgirls put up a strong fight against Western New Mexico that lasted five sets. They came back after being two sets to one to take it to five but the Cowgirls lost the last set 15-12. The Cowgirls had strong performances from multiple players.

The first set was a sign that it was going to be a competitive match. For most of the set, both teams were trading points. The Mustangs would have a 12-7 lead on the Cowgirls but the girls would counter back with five straight points to tie the game up at 12. The lead would then change from teams to team until the Cowgirls would gain a 23-20 after four straight points. After two points from the Mustangs,
Caroline Hansen, who had a team high 18 kills and 16 digs, finished the set with two kills to win the set 25-22.

In the second set, the girls would start with a 9-8 lead. Afterwards, the Mustangs would get the lead after a four-point run. The Mustangs would carry that lead to the end and win the set 25-20.

Third set started similar to the firsts set and the Cowgirls would be up 12-9. The Mustangs would come back and tie the game at 15. The game would continue and it would be close till the very end. Being down 24-23,
Andrea Nunez would continue the set with a crucial kill but the Cowgirls would give the Mustangs the last points to lose the set 26-24

Being down 2 sets to 1, the Cowgirls would not give up. They would be down 10-6 to start the set but a four point run, consisting of three kills, helped the girls tie the game at 10. The Mustangs again would build a lead and be up 22-17. The Cowgirls would then step up their game and win 8 out of the next 9 points to take the set 25-23.

Going into the fifth set, the Cowgirls would start the scoring with a kill from
Tianna Matthews. Being down 3-2, a kill from Hansen would start a 3-point run to go up 5-3. The Cowgirls would be down again at 11-9 but 2 kills from Nunez would tie the game back up. The Mustangs would push forward and score the next three points to be a point shy of winning the match. A kill from Shayli Schultz would stop their run but the Cowgirls would lose the match on the next point after a kill by the Mustangs.

The Cowgirls would fight but they would lose their season finale in five sets (25-22, 20-25, 24-26, 25-23, 12-15).
