Cowboys erupt for 62 points in win over Fort Lewis

Las Vegas, NM --- The New Mexico Highlands football team goes for 647 total yards to push passed the Fort Lewis Skyhawks 62-26 at the Sanchez Family Stadium on Friday night.
 
Returning quarterback Ramone Atkins threw for four touchdowns while rushing for two to finish the game with 356 total yards for the Cowboys. Atkins connected on 15 of his 27 attempts for 267 passing yards as his long throw went for a 53-yard touchdown pass to No. 3 D. Coney in the third quarter that gave the Cowboys a 42-19 lead over the Skyhawks.
 
No. 4 J. Hardy led the Cowboys with 19 rushes to go for 147 yards which included a 30-yard touchdown early in the fourth quarter that gave the Cowboys a 55-19 advantage.
 
Defensively, the Cowboys held the Skyhawks to 328 total yards which included 131 on the ground and 197 in the air. Armon Hickson finished the game 6-12 with 98 yards, a touchdown, and an interception while Connor Apodaca finished 6-14 for 95 yards.
