Las Vegas, New Mexico - The New Mexico Highlands women's basketball team returns home to play the final two games of the season before the Christmas holiday. Black Hills State is in Las Vegas for a Friday match-up and South Dakota Mines visits on Saturday.Ā
Black Hills State enters Friday's contest with an overall record of 5-3 and a 2-2 mark in the RMAC. The Yellow Jackets split a pair of home games last weekend as they beat MSU-Denver 58-38 on Friday before losing to nationally ranked Colorado Mines on Saturday. Ellie Moore leads Black Hills State in scoring at 11.0 points per game. The Yellow Jackets swept both meetings a year ago winning in Spearfish 57-48 in December and Las Vegas in January 62-43.
South Dakota Mines enters weekend play with an overall record of 1-8. The Hardrockers are 1-3 in conference play as they notched their first win of the season last Saturday over MSU-Denver in Rapid City. Junior Piper Bauer, averaging 14.9 points, is the leading scorer for the Hardrockers through nine games. NMHU Highlands won the only meeting last season 82-67 in Rapid City. The Hard Rockers play at CSU-Pueblo on Friday before heading to Las Vegas.
The Cowgirls enter play this weekend with an overall record of 3-6. They are 2-2 in Rocky Mountain Athletic Conference actions after dropping a pair of games at Fort Lewis and Adams State last weekend.
Juliana Aragon leads NMHU with 13.9 points and 4.1 assists per game.
Delani Harris averages 9.6 points and 7.4 rebounds per outing.
Aja Scott is the team leader with 8.0 rebounds per game.
The Cowgirls return to action after this weekend's games on December 31st as they travel to Colorado for a 12:00 pm game at CSU-Pueblo. This is a non-conference game that was originally scheduled to be played on November 17th.
