The New Mexico Highlands University Volleyball Team opens the 2023 season at the Texas A&M University - Kingsville Invitational.
Once again this season, the Cowgirls find themselves in the Lone Star State after starting the 2022 season in San Angelo, Texas, at the Kathleen Brasfield ASU Invitational.
"This is a strong tournament. All the teams finished with a winning record last year," said head coach
Tom Duke. "We'll get a good idea of where we stand after the weekend. We are using five freshmen in our rotation. It's always challenging to go to play against tough Texas teams," Duke continued.

Series History: This weekend's matches will be the first ever meeting between the Cowgirls and Quincy, Tiffin, and Ouachita Baptist. Texas A&M University - Kingsville is 6-1 all-time against NMHU in a series that dates back to 2011.
The Duke File: Head coach Tom Duke begins his 9th season at the helm of the New Mexico Highlands University Volleyball Team. He led the Cowgirls to the RMAC playoff berths in 2004, 2005 and 2021. Duke played collegiately at the University of Southern California where he was the National Player of the Year in 1988 and a three-time All-American. The University of Southern California retired his jersey in 2015.
RMAC Poll: The New Mexico Highlands University Volleyball Team garnered 42 points in the Rocky Mountain Athletic Conference volleyball coaches preseason poll which was good for 13th Place in the voting among the conference's 15 head coaches.
Road Warriors: The New Mexico Highlands University Volleyball Team will travel nearly 2600 miles before the RMAC portion of the schedule starts. After this weekend's action in Texas, the Cowgirls travel to Hays, Kansas, to play in the 2023 Tiger Classic next weekend.
Roster Breakdown: The 2023 New Mexico Highlands University Volleyball roster features three juniors, two sophomores, and nine freshman. 12 players hail from the state of New Mexico, two players from California, and one player from Colorado.
Home Opener: The Cowgirls play their home opener on Tuesday, September 5th, when they host Angelo State University at 3:00 p.m. Tickets are available here.
