Cowgirls Host A Pair Of Games To Open RMAC Slate

Las Vegas, New Mexico - The Cowgirls welcome Regis and Colorado School of Mines to historic Las Vegas as the 2024-25 RMAC kicks off this week. NMHU is 3-3 on the season after splitting games at the Lady Buff Thanksgiving Classic last weekend in Canyon, Texas.

THE FEARLING FILE: Lindsey Fearing is in her first year leading the Cowgirls after being named Head Coach on May 3rd, 2024. The Black Hills State graduate picked up her first career win on November 9th when NMHU beat Western New Mexico 80-60.

STATISTICALLY SPEAKING: The Cowgirls are well represented among the RMAC leaders through the first month of the season.

Junior Juliana Aragon leads the way for NMHU through six games as she is sixth in the RMAC in scoring (15.7 per game) and fifth in assists (4.5 per game). Aragon is also eighth in the conference with a field goal percentage of 46% and second in free throw percentage at 87%.

Freshman Kapiolani Anitielu is 10th in the conference in scoring at 14.7 per game and third with 1.5 blocked shots per game.

Sophomore Amaris Valadez is eighth in the RMAC with 2.0 steals per outing.

As a team, the Cowgirls are third in the RMAC in scoring at 68.3 per game.

SCOUTING THE RANGERS AND OREDIGGERS: Regis brings a record of 2-4 into Thursday's game at NMHU. Molly Marin is in her 10th season at the helm of the Rangers where she has a career record 158-105. Erin Fry leads the Rangers in scoring at 20.8 per game while Fiona Snashall is the leading rebounder at 7.6 per contest. The Rangers took both games against the Cowgirls last season winning 79-55 in Las Vegas before topping the NMHU 73-46 in Denver.

Colorado School of Mines is 2-5 overall heading into this weekend's action. They play at Adams State on Thursday before coming to Las Vegas for the Saturday afternoon match up with the Cowgirls. Brittany Simpson is in her 13th season in Golden where she has a 221-128 career record. Jenna Siebert leads the Orediggers in scoring at 13.4 points per game while Jade Leon is the top rebounder at 6.4 per contest. Saturday marks the 70th meeting all-time between the two schools with the Orediggers holding a 35-34 lead in the series history that dates back to the 1976-77 season.

UP NEXT: After this weekend's games the Cowgirls will be in Durango on Tuesday for a 5:30 pm game with Fort Lewis. The next home game is on December 14th at 1:00 pm against Adams State.
