Las Vegas, New Mexico - Behind stellar pitching efforts from
Arianna Ramirez and
Jazmyn Griego on Friday afternoon, NMHU won a pair of games over Regis. The Cowgirls won the opener 4-2 and the night cap 1-0 to open the series with the visiting Rangers.
In Friday's first game the Rangers jumped out to the early lead as they pushed across a pair of runs in the top of the first. The Cowgirls responded with two runs in their half of the first on RBI from
Arianna Ramirez and
Carlee Gonzalez. Ramirez would pick up two more RBI in the button of the second as she singled in
Lexi Apodaca and
Karla Banegas. That would be all the support Ramirez needed as she held the visitors scoreless the rest of the en route to the victory.
Game two saw the Cowgirls score the game's lone run in their half of the third when
Shaylene Saladin's double scored
Alessandra De La Trinidad.
Jazmyn Griego struck out four Rangers as she picked up the win for NMHU. The Cowgirls improve to 16-29 overall and 12-28 with Friday's wins.
The 2024 regular season concludes with a doubleheader Saturday morning. First pitch is scheduled for 11:00 am.
