Cowgirls Drop Two in Pueblo On Saturday

Pueblo, Colorado - The Cowgirls dropped both ends of Saturday's double header at CSU-Pueblo falling 5-2 in the opener and 8-7 in game two. NMHU is now 8-23 overall and 2-20 in conference play.

CSU-Pueblo jumped to a 5-0 lead as they scored five runs in their half of the third inning in Saturday's opener. The Cowgirls responded with two runs in the top of the sixth inning when Dioni Lincoln and Heaven Medina scored making the scores 5-2.

Andrea DeLaTrinidad had a pair of hits and the Cowgirls lone RBI in the game.

The day's second game saw the hosts build an 8-1 lead after five innings of play. NMHU rallied with five in the top of the sixth and another run in the top of the seventh to make the score 8-7. The late game rally stalled, however, with the Cowgirls coming up just short.

Jazmyn Griego went two for four and had three RBI while Heaven Medina had two hits and Andrea DeLaTrinidad two RBI to pace the NMHU offense.

The two teams play again tomorrow with first pitch set for 11:00 am from Pueblo.
