Cowgirls Fall to In-state Rival Mustangs

Box Score Silver City, N.M.  - The NMHU Cowgirls fall to in-state rivals Western New Mexico University on Saturday evening(Nov. 2). The Cowgirls, led by Head Coach Bryan Crawford, fall to 5-10 in the Rocky Mountain Athletic Conference and 11-13 in overall play.

The Cowgirls started off in a rough spot and just could not get the first set. The Mustangs took the first set (25-20).

Starting the second set, the Cowgirls turned it around and got a good lead to (7-0) and just kept giving it to the Mustangs to take that set on the Mustangs' home floor (25-20).

The third set was close and the Cowgirls had the lead at (3-2), but then your Cowgirls had four straight errors to put the Mustangs up (6-3). After that the Mustangs kept rising and took that set (25-17).

The last set of the match did not start off well for the Cowgirls but they ended up battling back and stayed in it with the Mustangs. As the rallies went on some hitting errors hurt your Cowgirls and gave the Mustangs the win (25-18).

Tops performers for the Cowgirls were Darian Mullen with 17 kills and Alicia Moreno with14 kills.

The Cowgirls will continue conference action on Friday, Nov. 8, at the John A. Wilson Complex against Adam State University at 7:00 p.m. If you can't make it to the Wilson Complex to catch your Cowgirls in action, you can watch the match on the America One Network.
